July 19 (Reuters)-Dish Network Corp (DISH.O) On Monday, he said he had signed a multi-year contract worth at least $ 5 billion to make AT & TInc. (TN) A major network service partner for wireless customers.
AT & T will provide voice, data and messaging services to Dish-owned mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) Boost Mobile, Ting and Republic Wireless customers under a 10-year contract.
The MVNO does not own a network, but rents capacity from an established operator to sell its services to its customers.
According to the company, Dish’s retail wireless customers across the United States will also have access to voice and data roaming services on AT & T’s network.
Telecom companies are spending billions of dollars to power their 5G infrastructure to deliver faster data services and better coverage. This demand is increasing due to the shift to pandemic-led remote working and online learning.
As of the last quarterly earnings report, Dish had 8.89 million retail wireless subscribers, while AT & T had more than 186 million mobile subscribers.
