Los Angeles (AP) — Construction of a $ 898.6 million station that connects Los Angeles International Airport directly to the region’s light rail and bus transportation systems has begun, solving decades-old problems.
The Airport Metro Connector connects to an automatic passenger train that is built to carry people to and from the airport terminal. The groundbreaking ceremony was held on Monday.
Los Angeles City Council member Mike Bonin, who is also a board member of the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority, said:
The station has a platform for access to Metro Light Rail trains, a bus plaza, a drop-off zone for travelers, a bicycle hub and a commercial space.
The airport is in the midst of a major multi-billion dollar remodeling.
