Child Tax Credit Scams: The IRS warns fraudsters to impersonate agents to assist with applications and speed up payments

Chicago (WLS)-IRS warns that scammers impersonating government agencies are offering “help” sign-ups to child tax credit programs. There is also a fake story of “speeding up” monthly payments.

The agency said stealing personal information, money and identity is all a trick.

According to the IRS, scammers use phone, email, text messages, and social media scams to target families who are eligible for credit.

Communication that helps speed up program registration and payment is fraudulent and it is important not to provide personal information.
