Chicago (CBS) — Care for the caregiver.
COVID-19 puts a great deal of stress on healthcare professionals. Currently, the organizations involved are increasing their support.
At Mount Sinai Hospital on Thursday, a group called Care for Caregivers donated a computer tablet. Tools, techniques, and resources to combat burnout are pre-loaded for healthcare professionals to treat and vaccinate COVID patients.
“When we get vaccinated and everything goes back to normal, this isn’t the end for healthcare professionals, because during stress, their adrenaline pushes them through and they’re doing well,” the organization said. Said Dr. Saloumeh Bozorgzadeh, the founder of. “When things settle down, they begin to feel this effect of last year and the impact and trauma it has on them.”
To honor those at the forefront of Mount Sinai and other hospitals, Caring for our Caregivers will host Healthcare Workers Appreciation Day on February 25, presenting an online program and congratulations.
