Vancouver, British Columbia (AP) JT Miller scored the winner of the shootout, letting the Boston Bruins, who visited Wednesday night, beat the Vancouver Canucks 2-1.
Canax’s winger patiently waited for Bruins goalkeeper Jeremy Swayman and pushed the shot behind the right skate. Bo Holvat also scored in the shootout.
Brock Bozer scored a goal in Vancouver’s regulation, but was 2-0 under the new coach Bruce Baudrow.
Patrice Burgeron scored Boston’s power play goal with a 5-3 advantage in the third early stage.
Kanax goalkeeper Thatcher Demco made 35 saves on his 26th birthday. Jeremy Swayman stopped 31 out of 32 in Boston.
Canax won the home game in a row for the first time this season.
Canax lost 16-13, but led 1-0 in the third period.
Boston gained the advantage of the two early in the third period, drawing a one-on-one score.
Zuho Ramicco was asked to slash and Kanax removed the penalty before Miller hit Swayman and was asked to interfere with the goalkeeper.
In just a few seconds of a 5 to 3 stretch, David Pastrnak sent a shot from inside the blue line, and Bergeron diverted it third from the front of net 4:51. For the Bruins captain, this was his ninth goal of the season.
Brad Marchan flattened Vancouver’s Travis Harmonic along the board in the middle of the second frame, leaving an obvious leg injury in the Canax defense. Harmonic stepped onto the bench without putting his weight on his right foot and went down the tunnel with the help of the trainer. He didn’t come back.
Marchan received an interference penalty for play and Canax was capitalized at 15:01.
Miller uncorked a shot from the top of the face-off circle, and Bozer tilted it past Swayman from the bottom of the slot for his sixth goal of the season.
Both sides were 1 to 4, and there was a man’s advantage.
Bruins had a reason to celebrate easily in the second early stage. Boston picked up the puck deep inside Vancouver’s territory and lifted the wall to Eric Howra, who went one-on-one with Demco before sending a backhand shot over the goalkeeper’s left pad. Canax challenged offside, and after a video review, authorities canceled the goal.
Note: Canax lost to Boston Bruins 3-2 on November 28th. Canax defense Oliver Ekman-Lachon was pulled out of the lineup with an undisclosed injury. .. Miller has scored 7 points (2 goals, 5 assists) in the last 5 games.
Bruins: The second of a three-game trip at Edmonton Oilers on Thursday.
Canucks: Host Winnipeg Jets on Friday in the fourth game of the six-game homestand.
