Buffalo’s Crane Public Library will be closed until Saturday due to the heat wave

Due to the heat wave in August and a major renovation project underway, the public library at the Crane branch in Buffalo was closed until Saturday. The mobile library of the public libraries in Buffalo and Erie County is assisted by stopping at the corner of Bidwell Parkway and Elmwood Avenue.

A key item in the refurbishment of the crane branch is the new elevator to add access to the second floor. A new heating and ventilation system has also been introduced.

Replacing the old system required shutting down the system, and the fans used to enable the facility weren’t enough for this week’s thermal recommendations.

“As you know, there were unusual temperatures this summer, especially this week, which is likely to be the highest in the 90s,” said Dorinda Darden, Deputy Director of Public Services for the Library System. Stated. “Even with fans, the building itself was read as more than 80.”

The National Meteorological Service said the air would be cold by the weekend.

“The Crane Branch Library is one of our busiest city chapters, so we wanted to ensure that we had the opportunity to make our resources and library resources available,” said Darden. .. “So we have a mobile library at Bidwell Parkway in Elmwood Village. They were there from 11am to 3pm on Monday, and they will be there on Wednesday.”

The library system also keeps the Soto Library on Porter Avenue and Niagara Street open Tuesday from 9 am to 5 pm. According to Darden, many people use both libraries and know where they are, so they can pick up and return books elsewhere on the day they’re used to going to the library. ..
