London (AP) — British police have pleaded guilty to kidnapping and raping a woman in southern London. The woman was found dead in the woods a week later.
A court in Old Bailey, London, heard Tuesday that 48-year-old Wayne Kusen pleaded guilty to Sarah Everd’s death, even though he was not asked to sue for murder.
A medical report from Belmarsh Prison to a former Metropolitan Police Department police officer on a video link is under preparation. Further hearing in front of Judge Adrian Fulford will take place on 9 July.
Everard, a 33-year-old marketing executive, went missing on March 3 when he walked home from a friend’s house in Clapham, south of London. A county southeast of Kent.
Everard’s disappearance and murder caused national protests, with women sharing their experiences of being threatened and attacked, and facing the daily fears of violence when walking alone.
A member of Everard’s family sat in court to witness the defendant entering his petition.
