London (AP) —A British couple seeking justice for their son after he died in a car accident filed a civil suit in the United States against an American driver they were involved in a clash on Tuesday. Said to solve.

Harry Dunn, 19, died in August 2019 after a motorcycle crashed into a car driving on the other side of the road outside the US Air Force base in central England.

The car driver, Anne Sakurus, left for the United States a few weeks later with her husband, Jonathan, a US intelligence officer at RAF Clawton. Sakurus was able to leave Britain after the clash as the US government exercised diplomatic immunity on her behalf.

British authorities filed criminal charges against her, demanding her surrender, and British authorities repeatedly filed proceedings during high-level international consultations.

The US government rejected the request for delivery, sparked protests in Britain and created tensions in relations between Britain and the United States.

The Dans then filed a civil suit in the district court in Alexandria, Virginia, seeking damages.

Rad Saiger, a spokesman for the Dan family, said on Tuesday that both sides had “resolved” their civil damages claims.

“The family now feels that they can pay attention to the criminal case and the long-awaited inquest for Harry’s death following the criminal case,” Sager said.
