The highly competitive middleweight adventure tourer segment has attracted new entrants from Europe in the form of the Tuareg 660. The Piaggio-owned sports bike brand has revived the old nameplate with a product that adheres to the original philosophy.
However, the styling has nothing in common with existing and previous models. The striking front fascia with compartmentalized headlamp clusters and tall windshield is extremely unconventional. With a tall stance, a huge fuel tank, comfortable seats and an upward exhaust canister, the Tuareg 660 is a typical adventure tourer that is not afraid to get your tires dirty.
Italian motorcycles are equipped with spoke wheels (21-inch front and 18-inch rear), dual-purpose tires, long travel (240 mm) upside-down front telescopic forks, progressive linkage rear suspension system, twin front discs and single rear discs. Engine and equipment
The 660 cc V-twin air-cooled engine was borrowed from RS660 and Tuono660. This motor is essentially a twin-cylinder derivative of the iconic RSV4 unit, but it’s on the Adventure Tourer and tuned for your application. The power and torque output is 80hp and 70Nm torque, and the gearbox is a 6-speed unit.

Positioning the latest products at the premium end of the segment, backed up with a comprehensive suite of APRC electronic gadgets including traction control, cruise control, engine braking, fuel maps and more. The motorcycle has four riding modes, two of which are adjustable, switchable ABS, LED headlamps, and a color TFT instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity. The Tuareg 660 weighs 187 kg and is equipped with an 18 liter fuel tank.
Release and price
The price of the Tuareg 660 hasn’t been announced yet, but given that it’s even equipped with gills, it can be expected to be more expensive than most rivals. The Italian brand plans to launch motorcycles in the international market towards the end of this year as a 2022 model.
The Tuareg 660 is quite likely to come to India, but it may have to wait longer than most other markets. Piaggio India is currently working on the introduction of the RS660 and its naked sibling, the Tuono660, to the market.
