1 dead, 9 injured in weekend shootings in Chicago

Chicago (CBS) – At least one person was killed and nine injured in the weekend shootings as of Saturday. Victim’s age ranges from he is 16 to he is 59.

In the weekend’s first shooting, a 29-year-old man was shot dead by multiple suspects on Saturday at the 300 block of South Cicero Avenue in South Austin.

Police said the victim was outside at around 3:08 a.m. when he was shot by men who had fled the scene on foot.

The victim was hit once in the back and leg and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition. The victim was unable to provide further details.

About an hour later, at about 4:18 a.m., a woman suffering from gunshot wounds to her face and lower body was found at the 7100 block of South Bennett Avenue on the South Shore by officers who responded to a call to fire.

The victim was taken to the University of Chicago Hospital in critical condition.

A teenage boy was also found shot multiple times around Garfield Park.

Officers found a boy, believed to be 16 years old, unresponsive and with 16 gunshot wounds to his body around 7:49 a.m. on the 300 block of South Springfield Avenue, police said.

He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A 19-year-old man was shot around Humboldt Park on Saturday morning.

The shooting occurred around 10:50 a.m. on the 900 block of North Keeler Avenue.

The man was taken to St. Anthony’s Hospital, where he was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital with multiple gunshot wounds.

At this time, the circumstances surrounding the incident are unknown.

In another incident, a 16-year-old boy was hospitalized after being shot Saturday afternoon in Chicago’s Auburn Gresham neighborhood.

According to Chicago police, the boy was shot in the abdomen by an unidentified individual while he was on the sidewalk of Block 7600 South Green Street at about 3:20 p.m.

He was transferred to the University of Chicago Medical Center in good condition.

No one was taken into custody in each case.
