Park Ridge’s Iconic Pickwick Theater Opens Through April

New tenants could be announced soon

Park Ridge, Illinois — Pickwick Theater in Park Ridge. closed in January After nearly 100 years of operation, it remains open until April.

In December, co-founder Dino Vlahkis told WGN News that shrinking margins and the COVID-19 pandemic led to the decision to close the iconic theater. But Vlahkis said increased demand and potential buyers would be two reasons why he reconsiders the closure.

“Honestly, a lot of people have come to the theater and inquired about taking over, so if we find out something is going on, we may stay open,” said Vlahkis, 12. told WGN News in May. 7.

Vlahakis and co-owner Dave Loomos were due to announce the new tenant on Thursday, but the announcement was delayed as the two sides continued to work toward an agreement. Chicago Tribune reported.

The duo had hoped to announce their new leadership at Thursday night’s final screening of “Gone with the Wind,” but a final agreement would take time, so the film’s continuation.

Pickwick has existed since 1928 and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975.
