Ternate, Indonesia (AP) — Indonesian man with coronavirus boarding a domestic flight disguised as his wife, wearing a niqab covering his face, and having fake ID and negative PCR test results ..
However, the cover did not last long.
Police say a flight attendant on a Citilink plane traveling from Jakarta to Ternate, North Maluku, noticed a man changing his clothes on Sunday.
“He bought a plane ticket in his wife’s name and brought an ID card, PCR test results, and a vaccination card in his wife’s name. All documents are under his wife’s name.” Said Aditya Laksimada, chief of the Ternate police, after arresting the man on landing. He was identified only by his initials.
Police took him to a COVID-19 test and returned positive.
The man is currently quarantined at home and police said he would continue the investigation.
Indonesia is on the verge of a coronavirus outbreak in Asia with 33,772 new confirmed cases and 1,383 deaths in the last 24 hours. The total number of reported cases was 2.9 million, with 77,583 deaths.
During this week’s Eid al-Adha vacation, restrictions on non-essential travel and public meetings, including negative coronavirus tests, have been tightened.
