A 14-year-old girl has died after being hit by a car with a woman standing at a bus stop.

A 14-year-old girl died Friday night after a car crashed into her and a woman at a bus stop in the Gresham area, according to Chicago police.

Around 6:35 p.m., a 32-year-old man driving a gold-colored Mercedes failed to stop at a red light and crashed into a black Jeep Cherokee that was driving south on Racine Avenue, police said. .

The jeep turned to two female pedestrians, including a 14-year-old girl who was standing near a bus stop. Police reports of the accident said the 38-year-old woman was thrown several feet while the Jeep pinned her to a Walgreens sign.

The Mercedes kept crashing into another car.

The still unidentified girl was taken to Cummers Children’s Hospital by the Chicago Fire Department and pronounced dead at 7:38 p.m., police and the Cook County coroner’s office said.

The 38-year-old woman was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition, the man who was driving the Mercedes was taken to the same hospital in critical condition, and the 42-year-old man in the jeep was taken to St. Louis. Police said he was in good condition at Barnard Hospital.

A man driving the Mercedes was arrested and police recovered a gun from him, according to a traffic accident report. Additionally, he received a traffic violation warning, including one for not having insurance.

The police department’s Serious Accident Division is investigating the accident.
