Illinois News Today is committed to accuracy. When we make a factual error, we correct it as quickly and transparently as possible.
How we handle corrections
- Factual errors (incorrect names, dates, figures, quotes, etc.) are corrected in the article, with a note at the bottom of the piece stating what was changed and when.
- Significant errors that affect the substance of a story will include a more detailed correction notice explaining the change.
- Clarifications are added when language may have been unclear or open to misinterpretation, even if not factually incorrect.
- Updates to ongoing stories (new developments, additional information) are marked with an “Updated” timestamp and are distinct from corrections.
