When automatic mode is your ally

We cannot ignore that the automatic modes of our camera can save us the situation to achieve that photo when we do not have time to stop. For example, when we are going to do a portrait and our model is relaxed and prepared. No time can be wasted configuring the camera and testing. To not miss that spontaneous moment, select Auto Mode and trust your camera. The important thing is to get that moment.

Achieve irresistible sunsets

We already saw that it is one of those topical summer photos that we should forget about, but let’s recognize that there are some occasions that are irresistible. For the moment, for the place or the company. So in those cases, select a small aperture to get a great depth of field, the lens at its widest angle to capture a wide scene, and since the shutter speed will be slow, prop the camera up in a safe place. And do not shoot by pressing the shutter button, better use the self-timer (timer) and thus we will avoid any slight trepidation.

Use the bounced flash

If we are indoors, the flash is usually essential but we know that if we have the main subject very close it can have undesirable glare. One option is to bounce the flash towards the ceiling, but since most flashes integrated in cameras are not addressable, we can either hold it focusing towards the ceiling (better if it is white or clear) or use a piece of cardboard. This way we will get a more subdued and pleasant flash light.

Ensure the focus when we use the tripod

If we are going to use a tripod, a good solution to avoid any slight movement (especially in windy or breezy areas) is to fix the tripod well by hanging a backpack or adding some weight to it. This way it will be much firmer, more secure and will help us achieve a precise focus and greater sharpness.

How to photograph from the train

If we take advantage of a journey or a train trip, it is always attractive to take advantage of the views through the windows. Ideally, we should shoot from an open window to avoid reflections from the glass. But if we can’t, we can also include them as a creative resource. In any case, let’s not shoot at random and take a good look through the viewfinder or the screen to choose the best framing and get a good photo from the train.

We hope these tricks have helped you a lot!
