Illinois House Passes Assault Weapons Ban, Now Heading to Senate

SPRINGFIELD, Illinois — The Illinois House of Representatives passed a bill banning assault weapons statewide early Friday morning.

The bill is now going to the Illinois Senate.

Seven people were killed in the shooting at Highland Park. Some of the city’s residents have traveled to Springfield to show their support for the ban.
