Two people were killed and five seriously injured when multiple vehicles collided on the Dunryan Highway in the South Side early Sunday morning.
The accident occurred on the northbound lane of the highway near East 51st Street around 1:55 a.m., according to the Illinois State Police.
Two people were taken to Mercy Hospital, where they were pronounced dead, according to the Chicago Fire Department. Their age was unknown.
Five other people of unknown age were taken to the hospital and are said to be in critical condition, according to fire officials.
A northbound lane near the scene remained closed, police said.
